Keep your existing number: forward it to BayRobin

Keep the number on your sign and your website. Forward calls to your BayRobin number, all the time or only when you miss them.

Updated September 30, 2026

You don't have to change the number on your sign, your invoices or your Google listing. You keep it with your phone company and tell them to pass calls on to your BayRobin number. This is called call forwarding, and you set it up with your carrier, not in BayRobin.

1. Get your BayRobin number

If you haven't yet, pick one first: Get your shop's phone number. You'll find it at the top of Calls → Phone number.

2. Choose how to forward

  • Forward every call. Your old number never rings. Every call goes to BayRobin.
  • Forward only missed calls (called conditional forwarding). The counter phone rings first. If your service writer is busy or doesn't pick up, the call moves to BayRobin. This is the most popular choice for shops where someone still answers during the day.

3. Turn it on with your carrier

Each carrier does this a little differently. These are the common codes on US cell phones. Dial them like a phone number, with your 10-digit BayRobin number in place of NUMBER. Check with your carrier if one doesn't work.

Shop landlines and business phone systems (VoIP) usually have a forwarding setting in the provider's online portal or app. Look for "call forwarding" or "forward when unanswered", or call their support line and ask them to forward to your BayRobin number.

Forwarded calls usually still use your plan's minutes with your old carrier. Calls that reach BayRobin use credits like any other call.

4. Test it

  1. Open BayRobin on your computer so the browser phone is on. The Dialer shows Ready to call.
  2. From a different phone (not the one you forwarded), call your old number.
  3. If you chose missed-call forwarding, let it ring out or decline it.
  4. You should see an Incoming call card in BayRobin. Answer it, then check it shows up in Calls → Call Log.

Test again after any change with your carrier, and once in a while after that. Some carriers turn forwarding off when you change plans or phones.
